I am a community servant and a proven leader within the legal community. After graduating from a top 20 law school at the University of Iowa where I worked in a local legal aid office, I came back to my community to bring my legal skills to those in need.
For over 20 years, I served as an attorney with the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender. In my capacity as an assistant public defender, I represented clients on misdemeanor, traffic, domestic violence, juvenile justice, child protection, felony and capital litigation matters. When I left the office, I was an attorney on the Suburban Homicide Taskforce representing clients in murder cases.
In addition to my work in the courtroom, I strived to promote the legal profession in the community by serving as an Community Outreach Coordinator in the Sixth District Office. In this capacity, I worked with a team of attorney making presentation in local schools on topics such as Juvenile Justice, Knowing Your Rights and Careers in the Law.
I also served a volunteer judge for the Sixth District Mock Trial Competition and a volunteer at the Clerk of the Circuit Court Expungement Summit for the last several years. Since March 16, 2017, I have had the honor and privilege of serving as a Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County after an appointment by the Illinois Supreme Court on a recommendation by Justice Ann Burke. As a Judge, I have presided over cases in the First Municipal District in the Traffic and Civil Divisions and am currently assigned to a call in the Forcible Entry and Detainer Division.
I have also been appointed to a position on an Illinois Supreme Court Subcommittee. As you can see, I have a proven track record of service and a commitment to excellence in the legal community. My legal experience and commitment to the legal community and my community in its entire, show why I am the best candidate for this position. My love for the law and my commitment to the furtherance of justice for all fuels my desire to continue to advance in the legal arena and have the greatest impact on justice and the law possible
